The events of the last 18 months have highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the US healthcare system and provided a glimpse of what we can expect in the future. The incredible pace of scientific and technological innovation has been inspiring, hinting at the rapid progress we could see over the next decade as AI and robotics help us develop new treatments and advance surgery. At the same time, COVID-19 exposed the healthcare system’s financial and operational shortcomings, and many health organizations are worse off now than they were before the pandemic. In this session, we’ll look at three essential building blocks of a cardiovascular (CV) program that is designed for the future and provide practical insights on how health systems can start working toward that future right now. • Technology and the Future of Interventional Treatments: Learn about the migration of CV services to ambulatory labs; how advances in technology may accelerate learning and procedural competency for interventionalists; and how robotics may be used to facilitate complex interventional procedures, including the potential for physicians physically located in quaternary and tertiary centers to perform interventional procedures on patients located in rural community hospitals. • Effective Physician Alignment and Partnerships: Explore a range of partnership options available to both cardiologists and health systems that will help create financial stability and increase capital availability, including joint ventures, professional service agreements, comanagement agreements, equipment leasing, and employment models. • Value-Based Care in CV Services: Review alternative payment models (APMs) ranging from low to high financial risk, with an emphasis on those that are the most relevant to CV services. Learn how some of the key CV care delivery trends addressed throughout this webinar impact the likelihood of success under APMs.
