The laboratory and lab test results support up to 70% of all clinical decisions. However internal inefficiencies, caused in part by inappropriate laboratory ordering, are putting financial stress on the hospital-based laboratory. Leveraging exclusive data from CareSelect® Lab, an EHR-integrated clinical decision support solution, we’ll examine laboratory ordering data from over 50 hospitals to benchmark ordering-appropriateness trends and identify opportunities to help improve clinical and financial outcomes. Learning objectives: • Review the current clinical and financial obstacles facing hospital-based laboratories. • Understand the effect of inappropriate ordering on the financial health of the laboratory. • Evaluate new strategies to identify and address inappropriate ordering using EHR integrated clinical decision support and analytics.
